Mechanical Insulation

Industrial insulation for steam, condensate and process piping per your specification or MSI can custom recommend materials and applications specifically for your project. We have also successfully insulated medium to large storage tanks, vessels, equipment and duct work.  The majority of our projects completed have been in the ethanol, power generations, food processing and institutional industries.  MSI is experienced at installing all types of insulation materials and their finishes per ASTM and MICA industry standards as follows:

  • MINERAL WOOL & FIBERGLASS PIPE AND BOARD
  • STYROFOAM & POLYISOSANUATE
  • FOAMGLASS & AERO GEL
  • ELASTOMERIC PIPE & SHEET
  • PVC, ALUMINUM & STAINLESS STEEL JACKETING

Removable/Reusable Insulation Blankets, Materials and Construction Methods

Covers are designed to accommodate a wide range of applications. MSI utilizes a variety of materials
depending on temperatures, environment, size and configuration of equipment.
MSI blankets consist of a flexible cloth encapsulating a high temperatures ceramic insulation with
thickness determined by operating temperature. Blankets are secured to valves or equipment with
either lacing hooks and stainless steel wire or Velcro straps with buckles. Blanket seams are doublestitch
sewn together with high temperature thread or stainless steel hog rings depending on the
customers’ preference. Additionally, draw cord flaps are sewn into seams for securing over adjacent
pipe insulation and prevent rain and wind penetration. We have a dedicated trailer equipped with all
necessary materials and equipment necessary to custom measure, fabricate and install any type of
blanket. We believe this eliminates the potential for errors in measurement that cost undue delays in
getting our product installed and in service. We also have the capability to furnish equipment name
tags for our blankets to help in identifying their proper installation.
